Kishan Kumar has been doing Hindi typing since the last 35 years outside the General Post Office (GPO), Lucknow and has been working for as much as 10 hours a day for a meager amount of 50 bucks a day.
In an attempt to evict pavement dwellers and vendors inspector Pradeep Kumar kicked the type writer out of the old man’s hands and tried to make him go away from the location.
After the first blow from the inspector came down hard on the type-writer, the old man collected the parts and put it back together slowly whilst begging for mercy as well.
Once again the inspector Pradeep Kumar snatched the typewriter from the poor man and threw it smashing it into pieces.
Inspector Kumar didn’t stop despite the fact that many reporters in the area gathered around to document the incident.
The old man cried seeing the only source of his income being shattered right in front of his eyes and did all he could to put it together quick.
Ashutosh Tripathi from Dainik Bhaskar shared the details with pictures on his Facebook platform and helped the old man get justice in more than one way possible!
Tripathi’s Facebook post went viral as soon as it was uploaded, with over 19,000 shares within a few hours.
It’s good news that within hours, the district magistrate and senior superintendent of police met Kumar at his residence to hand him a brand new typewriter.
Kudos folks! *sob*
