‘Teachers become great actors and great actresses.’ ‘We come to work when we don’t feel like it, and we’re listening to policy that doesn’t make sense – and we teach anyway.’ – Rita F. Pierson
Why aren’t we respecting our teachers enough? On keen observation each of us would notice that we never respect nor treat our teacher the way they deserve it. They are our life-changers and they are the one who stream-in on what we want to achieve in life but rarely do we acknowledge them nor give them their due-credit. We must perceive teachers to be what they are. They stream our lives and lead us on the path to success. They act as a ladder for us to achieve better things in life.
Here is a TED Talk by a veteran education Rita Pierson, who has been teaching for the last four decades. She addresses the issue of gauging the potential of every person, of every learner and of every student. She talks about how a human connection between a teacher and a student can fire confidence and desire in the student to be – ‘better somebody’.
Between writing assignments, marking sheets to putting down lists they have done everything to aide our path of glory and we never give them their due credit. Watch this video and feel the wave of nostalgia washing over you as she might make you recollect memories from your past.
Hip, hip, hurrah for all the teachers out there.
